"The One with the Sonogram at the End" is the 2nd episode of the NBC television series Friends. It is the second episode of the show's first season and was broadcast on September 29, 1994.

Ross discovers that his ex wife is pregnant, and goes down to the hopsital for the sonogram, only to get into a fight into the name of the baby, as Carol Willick, Ross's ex wife wants the child's surname to be Willick Bunch (Bunch being the name of her partner, Susan Bunch).

His and his sister, Monica's parents are coming for dinner, and Monica tries to make it perfect, as she feels that they love Ross more than her. However the food is ruined when Rachel accidentally drops her engagement ring in the lasagne, which she is returning to Barry Farber after she left him at the altar. She discovers that since the wedding, he has been going out with Mindy, Rachel's Maid in Honor, and that he has changed, like wearing contact lenses for her, something he wouldn't do for Rachel. He also admits going on their honeymoon with her to Aruba.

Meanwhile, Ross tries to tell his parents about his situation with Susan and the baby, and Monica urges him on in order to make her look like the better child. This plan backfires when Judy Geller states to Monica, after Ross informs them of the situation, 'and you knew about this?'.

The original broadcasting, from 8.30 - 9.00, received 20.2 million viewers [1], giving it a 22% share of viewings. It's rating was 14.0, below average for the season, (with the average viewership of 26 million, and a rating of 16.9).

  • Anita Barone portrays Carol Willick for this episode, however for the rest of the series, all appearances are played by Jane Sibbett
  • In the Pilot, Barry Farber is called Barry Finkle, and in other episodes he is called Barry Barber and Barry White.
